Expansion in Opportunities for Students
The Honhaar Scholarship Program has already benefited 50,000 students across Punjab. In its latest phase, an additional 30,000 scholarships will be distributed, increasing the total to 80,000 recipients.
The initiative is designed to support talented students in pursuing their education without financial burdens. Applicants can choose from 67 ‘future-oriented’ fields of study, equipping them with the skills and expertise needed for today’s evolving job market.

Honhaar Scholarship Program Phase -2
The Honhaar Scholarship Program stands among Pakistan’s largest educational aid initiatives, providing students with an annual scholarship of PKR 30,000 across 68 academic fields. The scheme includes 65 public and private universities, 12 medical and dental institutions, and 359 colleges, with a strong focus on promoting academic growth. The second phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Program is set to begin on December 4.
Honhaar Scholarship Program for Other Province Students
Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has approved the extension of the Honhaar Scholarship and Laptop Scheme to students from other provinces, including KPK, Sindh, Balochistan, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Students from these regions can review the detailed eligibility criteria provided below.
Chief Minister Punjab has announced the launch of the Honhaar Scholarship Program Phase-2, under which 2,570 students will be awarded scholarships, including 1,660 female students and 637 from minority groups. Overall, 30,000 students will receive annual financial support of PKR 120,000 each.
Prominent universities, such as the University of Punjab, have already started the distribution process. In Lahore alone, 1,886 scholarships are being awarded during this second phase of the program.

A meeting of the Scrutiny and Award Committee for the Chief Minister’s Honhaar Scholarship Program was held today at the Higher Education Department (HED), Lahore, under the chairmanship of Special Secretary HED, Mr. Munib-ur-Rehman. Under the Honhaar Scholarship Program, selected students will receive Rs. 130,000 annually to cover their educational expenses for up to eight years. Over the next four years, the initiative aims to reach 4 million students, with a total target of 20 million scholarships to be awarded. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a domicile from any district within Punjab.
- Be no older than 22 years on the closing date.
- Have a family income of less than Rs. 300,000 per month (affidavit required – sample available for download).
- Be enrolled in the approved disciplines at the selected universities/colleges for the Fall 2024 session. Newly admitted MBBS and BDS students in 2024 are also eligible. Minimum academic requirements: Medical Colleges: Above 80% in FSc./Intermediate.
Top Universities: Above 80%. Public Sector Universities: At least 75% in Sciences and 70% in Arts & Social Sciences. HED Colleges: At least 65% in Sciences and 60% in Arts & Social Sciences.

How to Apply for Honhaar Scholarship
To begin, students must create an account on the Honhaar Scholarship Portal at
https://honhaarscholarship.punjabhec.gov.pk/.
Once the portal is open, follow these steps: Click on the ‘Login’ button located on the right side of the page. A Sign-In/Registration window will appear.
Select the ‘Register’ option to create a new account. Provide your CNIC, institution name, and email address. After completing all required fields, click on the ‘Submit’ button. Make sure to remember your password for future logins.
Return to the portal’s homepage, click on ‘Apply,’ and log in using your CNIC and password. The application form will appear-fill in all sections carefully, step by step, and then submit your application.
The form includes sections for personal details, address, education, employment status, parent information, family members, income and assets, expenses, transport, required documents, and a final review.
After submission, a confirmation email will be sent to the registered email address.
How to Check Honh Scholarship Application Status
The Honhaar Scholarship Scheme officially closed on 18th October 2024. The Higher Education Department, Punjab, will now review the submitted applications and finalize the merit list. Successful candidates will be notified via email and SMS, so applicants are advised to regularly check their inboxes and messages.
