    LAHORE: In response to rising tensions between Pakistan and India, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has declared that all schools and colleges in the province will remain closed until May 11. as reported by NewsFastTv News.

    The minister announced that schools and colleges would resume operations on May 12, emphasizing strict adherence to the closure orders to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the current uncertain situation.

    Meanwhile, early Thursday morning, residents of Walton Road in Lahore and nearby areas were thrown into a panic as three back-to-back explosions were reported, causing many to evacuate their homes in fear.

    Lahore Police confirmed that the blasts happened in quick succession. The detonations were so intense that they could be heard from several kilometers away, causing hundreds of people to gather in the streets in panic and confusion.

    Pakistan’s military forces successfully intercepted and destroyed five Indian Air Force aircraft and an armed drone on May 7, while also targeting several brigade headquarters and border check posts along the Line of Control.

    This decisive response came after India initiated missile strikes on multiple locations in Punjab and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, as confirmed by DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.

    The Pakistani military spokesperson characterized India’s actions as unprovoked aggression, stating that Indian forces had launched missiles from their airspace in what he described as a ‘reckless’ attack on Pakistani territory.

    Official Statements Condemn Indian Aggression

    During a media briefing, Director General of ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed missile strikes on several locations, including Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Ahmedpur Sharqia, Bagh, and Muridke. The military spokesperson denounced these attacks as “shameful aggression” and vowed that there would be serious repercussions for these actions.

    In a CNN interview, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif referenced Indian news reports confirming the destruction of three military aircraft in the disputed Kashmir territory. The minister accused Indian forces of deliberately assaulting non-combatant areas, stating:

    “Their missiles struck residential zones, killing innocent women and children – a clear violation of global warfare conventions.”

    Addressing the nation about the border crisis, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif characterized India’s military actions as a “dangerous provocation” and assured citizens that Pakistan would respond appropriately to safeguard national sovereignty.

    Islamabad Schools to Stay Open on May 8 Despite Regional Tensions

    The Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Islamabad has confirmed that all Educational institutions in the federal capital will operate as usual on Educational institutions Wednesday, May 8. This announcement follows a one-day closure prompted Educational institutions by increased tensions between Pakistan and India.

    Earlier, officials had mandated the temporary closure of both public and private Educational institutions due to security concerns, although exams continued as initially planned.

    Emergency Meeting Reviews Preparedness

    Amid the escalating situation, the Deputy Commissioner convened an emergency meeting with senior officials from hospitals, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, police, Special Branch, and other law enforcement agencies.

    Attendees were instructed to maintain a state of high alert under the War Book protocols to address any potential emergencies. The meeting also established a coordinated response plan among departments to ensure rapid action if required.

    Background: Recent Escalation with India

    The emergency session came after an overnight attack by India, which resulted in the deaths of eight Pakistani civilians and injuries to 33 others. In response, Educational institutions the Pakistan Armed Forces reportedly downed five Indian aircraft and targeted a brigade headquarters.

    The reopening of schools indicates a measured return to normalcy, although security measures remain heightened.
