The Trump-Putin meeting is off because Moscow won’t play ball on a quick Ukraine ceasefire.

This screws up recent chats. A White House source told Reuters that Trump isn’t planning any Putin meetups anytime soon. This follows a decent phone call between Rubio and Lavrov, but they still canned a face-to-face.

These stopped talks show how the war is hard to stop.. Last week, Trump wanted to see Putin to try and fix things in Ukraine. But the Kremlin isn’t giving. Moscow is still asking Ukraine to give up land before agreeing to stop fighting.

Trump said he doesn’t want a pointless meeting with Putin but suggested news might drop fast.

We’ll let you guys know soon, Trump told reporters, hinting they’re still talking.Putin’s investing guy, Kirill Dmitriev, posted that a big meeting between them is still in the works.

But, there is a catch. U.S. officials say Russia sent the U.S. a paper restating their old demands for a peace deal, which the U.S. isn’t down with.

The paper says Russia wants the whole Donbas area in the east, showing they don’t care about Trump’s ask for a quick ceasefire based on wherever troops are now. As of now, Russia has all of Luhansk and about 75% of Donetsk, which together make up the Donbas.

European leaders are telling Washington to get tough in the next talks. On Tuesday,

They really pushed the U.S. to end the Ukraine war fast and start peace talks using how things stand now.

NATO’s Mark Rutte is visiting Washington this Wednesday to chat with President Donald Trump about Ukraine. Rutte wants to tell him what Europe thinks about getting a ceasefire and starting peace talks.

All this is going on as a Trump-Putin meeting hits some bumps. After talking to both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskiy, President Trump wanted to meet Putin again after their meeting in Alaska back in August, but it hasn’t panned out like he wanted.

Plus, a practice meeting got canceled. Marco Rubio and Sergei

Lavrov were supposed to meet in Budapest this Thursday, but that’s not happening anymore.

Lavrov said on Monday that finding a time and place for Trump and Putin to meet isn’t as important as actually doing something with what they talked about in Alaska.

The Kremlin feels the same way and says any meeting needs good planning, which will take some time. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, mentioned that Presidents Trump and Putin haven’t decided on a date for anything yet.

When Russia was asked about possible dates, Peskov said they haven’t agreed on anything yet.

So, even though a Trump-Putin pow-wow wasn’t officially canned by DC or Moscow, things are looking shaky since Russia’s not budging. Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, kinda hinted on social media from DC that things hit a snag.

Bigwig European diplomats are seeing the delay of the Rubio-Lavrov shindig as a sign. They reckon the U.S. doesn’t want  and Putin chatting unless Moscow cools it.

One top diplomat said Russia was asking for the moon, and the U.S. thought wouldn’t get anything good out of a hangout in Budapest.

Another diplomat chimed in, saying Russia’s standing firm and won’t back down.

This diplomat figures Lavrov restated this tough stance when talking to Rubio, which made the U.S. Secretary of State pull the plug on the call.

Ukraine’s European cheerleaders are sweating about another Trump-Putin meetup because they don’t think Russia will budge. This anxiety just goes to show how tricky the Ukraine peace thing is.

Looks like the UK, France, Germany, and the EU are on the same page as Trump:

They all want the fighting to end ASAP and for talks to begin. This fits with s vibe. Last Friday, he and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy met at the White House. Afterward,  mentioned he wants everyone to just freeze the situation.

Reuters and other sources say the Trump-Zelenskiy talk was serious business. Some are saying Trump asked Ukraine to hand over some land to Russia. But President Zelenskiy seemed pleased to get Trump’s go-ahead for a ceasefire. Seems like that’s.

what Ukraine wants as a starting point for talks.

European leaders are planning to talk with Ukraine’s President this week. They’re kicking things off with an EU meeting, followed by chats with countries in a security group that monitors war agreements. Russia’s not thrilled about this.

The EU is now wondering if Trump and Putin might meet in Budapest. Viktor Orban, Hungary’s Prime Minister.

often disagrees with EU leaders given his friendly relationship with Russia.

Getting Putin to a meeting in Budapest is tricky because of airspace problems. To fly there, he’d have to go through the airspace of other countries in the EU. Poland said on Tuesday that if Putin’s plane enters its airspace, they might force it to land and arrest him because of an international warrant.

On the other hand, Bulgaria said they’d let Putin’s plane fly through their airspace to get to the meeting.
