Beyond the Handshake: The High-Stakes Agenda for the MBS-Trump Summit

    Trump

So, next month, Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman is dropping by to see President Trump in Washington.

He’ll be around for three days, kicking off on November 17, and they’ll hold their meeting on November 18. It’s an important visit for both countries. I’m hearing they’re going to talk about politics, the economy, and security. My source wants to remain nameless, BTW.

This visit was set up after the ceasefire in Gaza, which Trump’s team helped put together. Saudi Arabia was all for it.A possible security agreement between the US and Saudi Arabia might be something they bring up when they get together.

This follows Trump saying he’d support Qatar—Saudi Arabia’s neighbor—if anyone causes problems.

The Prince visiting after Trump’s trip to Riyadh in May shows the US and Saudi Arabia are getting closer. When Trump went overseas as president for the first time, Saudi leaders said they’d invest around $600 billion and set up agreements in defense and AI.

Okay, so the US and Saudi Arabia have been tight for a long while. We get oil, they get our military support. This relationship matters, especially now with everyone talking about Palestine becoming a country.

Saudi Arabia is really pushing for Palestine to happen.

They even talked France into having a UN meeting about it in July. Last month, they and the US made the New York Declaration, saying Palestine should be a country, but not run by Hamas. Lots of countries liked this, and it got approved at the UN.

RIYADH, OCT 21 – A source close to Saudi Arabia told AFP that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) will meet US President Donald Trump next month when he visits Washington for three days.

This source, who wanted to stay anonymous, said the Crown.

Prince is coming on November 17 and will talk with President Trump the next day. They’ll probably talk about everything, like politics, money, and security, which proves how close the US and Saudi Arabia are.

MBS visiting Washington is happening at an interesting time. The Trump team just set up a ceasefire in Gaza that’s not too stable, and Saudi Arabia was happy about it.

People are saying Saudi Arabia wants a security deal with the US because of this trip. President Trump seems up for it, especially since he said he’d protect Qatar (Saudi Arabia’s neighbor) from problems. So, the US might be watching security over there more closely.

So, get this: Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman is heading to the White House next month to see President Trump.

This visit happens after Trump went to Saudi Arabia last May. Remember that was his first trip as president? The Saudis were really nice to him and said they’d invest around $600 billion in areas like defense and AI.

This is pretty standard. We score oil easily from Saudi, and Saudi Arabia gets military aid from us.

CBS News says that Trump and Prince Mohammed bin Salman plan to meet at the White House on November 18.

Word on the street is that this is the Prince’s first official visit to Washington since Trump took office.

They have a lot to discuss. CBS News says they’ll probably talk about how those deals from Trump’s Saudi Arabia trip are working out. They might also talk about how to make our countries team up better on military stuff and to share information.

The meeting on November 18 happens while Riyadh is still trying to get a defense deal with Washington. Bloomberg says, quoting someone who didn’t want to be named, that the leaders will probably make a bunch of two-way deals official. These deals are likely to include important stuff like AI, defense, nuclear stuff, and trade. The White House hasn’t said anything about the visit yet.

CBS News also said that military and intelligence cooperation will be big talking points when bin Salman and Trump meet at the White House

The diplomatic stuff also includes the Middle East peace process. President Trump said on Fox News last Friday that Saudi officials told him recently they’re willing to join the Abraham Accords—the deals he helped make between Israel and mostly Muslim countries when he was first in office.

I hope Saudi Arabia joins, and I hope others do too. I think when Saudi Arabia joins, everyone will join, Trump said.

This chance to expand things diplomatically comes after Trump’s 20-point ceasefire plan to stop the war in Gaza went into effect. The plan’s put a fresh opportunity.

On the table to try and get more regional integration.

A possible Saudi-Israel deal is a big deal, especially since Israel’s relationships with other countries have gone downhill badly during the two-year Gaza conflict. Lots of countries cut ties or made them worse

because there was a lot of proof of war crimes happening, and some of America’s big friends in Western Europe started to officially recognize Palestine as a country.
