Pakistan, China to Boost Cooperation in Industry, Agriculture, and CPEC Projects
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation across the industrial, agricultural, and mining sectors while also enhancing people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges.
This commitment came during the sixth round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue held in Islamabad on Thursday, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
China Pledges Support for Pakistan’s Economic Resilience
Speaking at a joint news conference with DPM Ishaq Dar, Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed strong support for boosting Pakistan’s economic stability and growth.
Yi highlighted that the top priority for both countries is advancing the high-quality development of the enhanced China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).He stressed building on past achievements and outlined plans for additional economic corridors.
Key Projects: Gwadar Port, Karakoram Highway, and ML-1
The Chinese foreign minister also highlighted plans for joint development and operational support for Gwadar Port, the realignment of the Karakoram Highway, and third-party participation in Pakistan Railways’ ML-1 project, signaling expanded cooperation in infrastructure and connectivity.
China Pledges Humanitarian Aid, Stronger Security Cooperation with Pakistan
Expressing condolences over the loss of lives and destruction from recent floods in Pakistan, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced that will provide immediate emergency humanitarian assistance to support flood victims.
Support for Counter-Terrorism Efforts
Yi praised Pakistan’s tireless efforts and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, expressing confidence that the country’s counter-terrorism operations will ultimately secure lasting peace. He emphasized that and Pakistan will deepen cooperation on security and counter-terrorism to address shared challenges.
Commitment to Regional Stability and Dialogue
The Chinese foreign minister noted that both countries will coordinate closely in response to regional and global challenges, adding that advocates resolving disputes through dialogue rather than conflict.

Yi described the relationship as an all-weather strategic and cooperative partnership that continues to grow stronger and remains unbreakable despite global uncertainties.

Speaking at the joint press conference, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar described his talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as “fruitful and substantive,” noting that both sides discussed the full spectrum of bilateral relations, including CPEC projects, trade and investment, and people-to-people exchanges.
Preparations for PM Shehbaz Sharif’s China Visit
Dar confirmed that discussions also covered preparations for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to , where he will attend the SCO Council of Heads of State Summit and hold meetings with top Chinese leadership, including the Chinese President and Premier.
The visit will also include a Pakistan- B2B Investment Conference designed to strengthen economic cooperation
75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations
Announcing the upcoming celebration of the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations next year, Dar emphasized
that both nations will jointly organize a series of events and programs to mark this historic milestone.

Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to deepen cooperation with , aiming to elevate their long-standing “ironclad friendship” to new heights of collaboration and mutual development.
Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Ishaq Dar emphasized that both countries share complete consensus on all major issues, expressing Pakistan’s gratitude for steadfast support in safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity.
He assured Pakistan’s full backing for China on all matters of its core concerns.
Dar further highlighted the importance of resolving outstanding regional issues through sincere and concerted efforts, in line with international law and established norms of inter-state relations. Both sides agreed to continue close coordination on multilateral platforms, including the United Nations Security Council.

In the evening, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad. During the discussion, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, ICT, agriculture, industrialization, and mineral development.
The prime minister also underlined the pivotal role of the Economic Corridor (CPEC) in accelerating Pakistan’s socio-economic growth and regional connectivity. He expressed satisfaction over the steady progress in CPEC Phase-II and praised for its consistent support in bolstering Pakistan’s national development and security
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to strengthen the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with , reflecting the aspirations of both nations. He also lauded President Xi Jinping’s visionary leadership in further solidifying this partnership.
Looking ahead to his upcoming visit to Tianjin and Beijing, the prime minister said he anticipated productive engagements with President Xi, Premier Li Qiang, and other senior leaders.
The visit will coincide with the SCO Council of Heads of State Summit and the 80th anniversary commemorations of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Reiterating position, Wang Y described Pakistan as an “ironclad friend” and a reliable all-weather partner. He commended Pakistan’s dedication to protecting its sovereignty and emphasised that will continue working closely with Pakistan to promote regional peace, development, and stability.
