Lily Allen Says Sorry to Katy Perry for Previous Comments

Lily Allen has publicly apologized for her previous criticism of Katy Perry, which she expressed during the backlash surrounding the singer’s recent trip to space. Speaking on her Miss Me podcast, hosted on NewsFastTV , Lily Allen admitted, “I didn’t need to mention her at all – it was unnecessary and stemmed from my own internalized misogyny.”

“I’ve reflected on it quite a bit, and joining in the criticism of her was completely unjustified ,” Lily Allen said. “While I don’t agree with what occurred , she wasn’t the only one involved.” The English singer and actress was among several well-known figures who spoke out against the recent Blue Origin mission, which took Katy Perry and five other women on a brief journey to the edge of space two weeks ago.

    Lily Allen Explained.

“She was likely the most recognizable figure and the most polarizing, which is probably why I chose to focus on her,” Lily Allen explained. “I truly am sorry. If the situation were flipped and someone in my industry had used my name in that way, I know I would have been hurt. Witnessing that helped me understand that I needed to apologize to her.

Lily Allen apology followed a previous episode of her podcast, where she and co-host Miquita Oliver discussed “Katy Perry and her friends going to space for 12 minutes.” Lily Allen remarked, “Seriously, what was that even about?

    Why? What was the point?”

She proceeded to criticize the timing of the space trip, calling it “out of touch” given the current economic climate.

“We’re facing a recession, and people are genuinely struggling just to get by and feed their families,” she stated .

She continued, “And the way they tried to frame it as some kind of feminist statement.” The flight, which occurred on a rocket developed by Jeff Bezos’s space company,  Blue Origin’s mission made history as the first all-female spaceflight since 1963. Prior to the launch, Perry called it “a defining moment for the advancement of commercial space travel, for humanity as a whole, and for women globally.”

Perry was joined on the flight by Jeff Bezos’s fiancée, Lauren Sánchez; television personality Gayle King; former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe; civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyen; and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

Despite the group effort, Perry became the main target of criticism after she performed Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” and displayed the setlist for her upcoming tour to the in-The in-flight camera captured the moment. The fast-food chain Wendy’s also took part in the online backlash, posting on social media,

    “Can we send her back?”

—but later clarified, expressing that they had “a great deal of respect for Katy Perry and her exceptional talent.”

Model Emily Ratajkowski was also critical of the flight,a expressing that she felt “disgusted.” In a follow-up video, she criticized Jeff Bezos directly, stating that bringing “his fiancée and a few other well-known women into space for tourism isn’t real progress.”

Actress Olivia Munn echoed this sentiment, calling the trip “gluttonous.” She commented, “It costs an enormous amount of moneyto venture into space while countless people are having difficulty affording everyday essentials like eggs.

    What’s the purpose?

Is it really historic just because you’re going on a joyride?” In response to the criticism, Gayle King expressed that she was “extremely disappointed and deeply saddened” by the negative reaction.

Addressing the critics, she asked, “Have you actually been? If you’ve experienced it and still feel that way afterward, then I’m open to having a conversation.”
